THE RESIDENCY: Nigerian Global Artist Comes Home

The Afrobeats icon, from the inception of his music career, significantly from the days of “Dami duro” and “Back when”, featuring Naeto C, is set to celebrate 15 years in his music career with a 3-day (night) performance at the national theatre in Lagos in December 2026. He can be said to be one of the biggest Afrobeats artists and has simultaneously been on the trend, from being one of Africa’s biggest stars (in fact, he has been described as Africa’s biggest Afrobeats artist by many far and wide), with featured music from artists across the globe like Chris Brown and a host of others.

The residency, which he has named his 3-day programme, is set to be held from the 17th to the 19th of December 2026, with tickets set to start selling on September 25, 2026. This concert may be presumed to be bringing his sixth studio album, “ORIADE”, which he launched on the 11th of August 2026, to perform and thereby give it a wider reach.

The five-time Grammy-nominated music artist, Davido, for three nights would be telling a story of his journey in music through his songs on stage at his concert “The Residency” in Lagos, which carried the centre that marks the beginning of his music journey as an entertainer. In those three nights, he performed songs from his ORIADE album along with a couple of his hit songs, which have shaped his career with the support of his fans, friends, family, and crew. The album, which featured artists like Leon Thomas, Mayorkun, Black Sheriff, Fola, Llona, Jazzwrld, Aya Nakamura, and JL Ceejay, has now recorded over 100 million streams on Spotify by September 23, 2026.

After 15 years on the road, Davido comes home on September 17th, 2026, to a place where he had watched the journey of another artist he once idolised rise to fame prior to his rise through his hit song “Dami Duro” in 2011.

The residency is one of the Afrobeat singer’s first residencies. It was announced with a trailer, a video featuring the singer and his manager, Asa Asika, introducing the prospects of the residency. The singer has had tours and concerts across Africa and the globe, one of which was his “FIVE ALIVE” world tour, which he had in Toronto and New York.

Another noteworthy achievement was his Coachella debut at the opening of the Africa Cup of Nations ceremony in 2025 in Morocco and his appearances at Paris Fashion Week. The Afrobeats artist is recorded to have won his first breakthrough Headies award in 2010 following the success of his hit single “Dami Duro”. He has since won a total of 10 Headies awards through his career so far. Son of the famous businessman Adedeji Adeleke and nephew to the incumbent governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, he is the youngest of five siblings. The singer married his long-time partner Chioma Rowland in 2025, and they welcomed two children. He has two other children, Hailey and Imade Adeleke, whom he has with Rona and Sophia Momodu, respectively.
